Description
Nobody knows more about advance, heavy-duty engine technology than Honda. All of Honda's general purpose engines are painstakingly designed to deliver years of power and performance in the widest possible range of applications - dependably, quietly, economically, and with little servicing along the way. For maximum performance, reliability, economy and engine life, don't accept anything less than a Honda engine.
Honda Engines Are Made to Last Nearly half a century of industry-leading internal combustion experience is reflected in every Honda engine. Each is made to deliver solid, trouble-free power and performance over the long haul. Compact and lightweight, Honda engines start up quickly and run steadily with extremely low levels of noise and vibration – all while sparing you time-consuming servicing chores.
Standard-Setting Overhead Valve (OHV) Design Honda’s 1983 introduction of general purpose OHV engines altered the standards of the industry. Compared to SV (side-valve) engine designs, the OHV layout slashes fuel and oil consumption levels, increases power output, enhances engine durability, and extends engine life.
Proven Air-Cooled OHV Engines Most of Honda’s general purpose engines feature efficient air-cooled OHV layouts to enhance the hard-working, heavy-duty qualities that make the Honda name famous. Nearly all horizontal-shaft GX and GD Series petrol and diesel engines and vertical-shaft GXV Series petrol engines feature proven OHB layouts.
Compact, Powerful V-Twin Models The compact 90° V-Twin OHV configurations featured in the GX610/620 and GXV610/620 automatically cancel out primary vibration and make these models the most powerful in Honda’s air-cooled lineup. With the help of an automotive-style lubrication system, these hardworking engines offer the high reliability, low noise, and reduced emissions you’ve come to expect from the world’s largest engine marker.
Top-Performing Liquid-Cooled Overhead Camshaft OHC Models Excellent choices for a wide range of applications, Honda’s two-cylinder petrol GX360 and GX640 feature liquid-cooled OHC layouts and high performance details befitting them as top-of-the-line Honda engines.
Air-Cooled SV Engines: The Smallest & Lightest The oldest, most time-tested in Honda’s engine lineup, these basic air-cooled models feature an SV layout and timeless simplicity for remarkably compact versatility. The heavy-duty construction and proud tradition of performance are the hallmarks of these seasoned models.
Many Types and Options Available A variety of PTO shaft types and reduction ratios are available to suit a variety of needs and applications. Electric-start types and assorted options, such as special LPG carburetors, are also available for many models to help the work go easier.
Environmentally Friendly Honda has skillfully applied its OHV technology to make engines that not only fall easily within the United States’ strict 1995 CARB (California Air Resources Board) emission regulations, but also meet 1996 EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) standards as well.
